EXPANDING INTO PERU’S TRUJILLO REGION
Unlocking gold, copper, and new value streams with safe bio-oxidation solutions for high-arsenic concentrates.
STRENGTHENING OUR SOUTH AMERICAN FOOTPRINT
With proven success in Ecuador, BacTech is bringing clean bioleaching to Peru’s high-arsenic mining sector.
BacTech is actively exploring opportunities in the Trujillo region of Peru, focusing on gold and copper concentrates and potential metal recovery projects. Led by senior technical advisor Neil “Tito” Acosta, the company is engaging with local mineral processors to determine daily concentrate production in the Trujillo area. A lot of the material mined in northern Peru is enargite which is an arsenic, gold, copper sulphide mineral. Not only would gold and silver be recovered, it is expected that a copper sulphate can also be produced where economics are positive for doing so.
With many arsenic-rich gold mines in the area, BacTech sees a significant opportunity to provide a safe and sustainable bio-oxidation processing solution for high-arsenic concentrates. This approach would support local economic development while ensuring toxic materials are managed responsibly.
Peruvian miners have faced significant pricing challenges due to Chinese import restrictions and taxes, often receiving only a fraction of the gold value of their concentrates. BacTech aims to offer fair, environmentally friendly alternatives, similar to its initiatives in Ecuador, ensuring miners receive superior pricing while promoting responsible processing practices.
This initiative positions BacTech to deliver both economic and environmental benefits to Peru’s mining communities while expanding its South American operations.
OUR IMPACT
In Peru’s Trujillo region, BacTech Environmental is driving both economic fairness and environmental responsibility. Through its bioleaching technology for high-arsenic gold and copper concentrates, BacTech aims to:
Recover valuable metals such as gold, silver, and copper safely and efficiently.
Stabilize toxic arsenic pollution, protecting local ecosystems and communities.
Offer fair pricing to miners who have faced steep discounts under traditional markets.
Hire locally- providing better wages and stable employment.
Support local economic growth through sustainable processing and transparent partnerships.
This initiative reinforces BacTech’s mission to make mining cleaner, fairer, and more sustainable across South America.
Pipeline & Updates
BacTech is evaluating a bio-oxidation facility in Peru to process high-arsenic gold and copper concentrates produced locally. The project will create local jobs, offer fair pricing to miners, and replicate the successful Ecuador model for sustainable mining.
-
BacTech is evaluating the technical and economic feasibility of establishing a bio-oxidation facility in-country. The plant would treat arsenic-rich concentrates locally, ensuring miners receive fair market pricing and eliminating the need to export toxic material under restrictive import regulations. Early testing and pilot planning aim to optimize recovery of gold, silver, and copper while minimizing environmental impact.
-
Following feasibility confirmation, BacTech will advance to project financing, construction, and commissioning. The initiative will provide local employment, foster sustainable mining practices, and replicate the successful Ecuadorian model, delivering economic, social, and environmental benefits to Peru’s mining communities.
